Families looking to adopt from Lithuania must meet certain requirements. These requirements are a combination of the regulations set by the Government of Lithuania, Family Tree Adoption Agency (FTAA), and the US Citizenship and Immigration and Service (CIS).
- Couples up to 50 years old. (if one spouse is over 50, in rare instances may adopt a child over 10 years of age).
- Single Women may adopt a child over 6 years of age
- At least one adoptive applicant of a married couple must be a United States citizen.
- While the Agency prefers couples who have been married at least one year prior to application, the quality and stability of the relationship will be of primary concern.
- Families may have other children when adopting from Lithuania.
- Ability to meet state and federal requirements for adoption.
- Flexibility to adopt either a boy or a girl.
