The children of Russia, while mostly male, are infants, toddlers and school age. Female children are sometimes available to adopt and are of infant, toddler and school age. There is a longer wait for families who are interested in adopting a female. Families who are flexible and will consider adopting EITHER a boy or girl are more successful in this process. Abandoned infants and children are for the most part cared for in government run orphanages after an attempt has been made to locate the birth family.

While the children are generally healthy, it is important to remember that they have been in an orphanage/institutional setting and that it is not uncommon for them to have physical and or developmental delays, colds or upper respiratory infections, rashes etc. While every child is different, most of these children flourish once placed with their adoptive family. The children of Russia are beautiful and waiting for a loving family to call their own.
